What about lunch?

The P&B Northamptonshire Youth Series is open to all sailors able to sail a simple trapezoid race course, as a guide we'd say most sailors who take part are between the ages of 8 and 18.

There are no regional restrictions on who can join in, you don't have to be a member of one of the host clubs, or live in Northamptonshire. However, to be eligible to win overall series trophies and prizes you must be a member of an NSSCA affiliated club.

There is a huge range of ability, from sailors just starting to race through to youth team members who compete internationally. Everyone is welcome to join our budding sailing community, the emphasis at these events is on developing a love of sailing to last a lifetime with some decent racing to really get you hooked!

So how are the Fleets divided?

To encourage all abilities, ages and youth classes to take part our races are divided into the following fleets:

'FAST' FLEET: ILCA / RS Feva / RS Tera Pro (PY 1370 and faster)

TOPPER FLEET: Topper 5.3 (PY 1363)

Each host sailing club will have an online entry to complete before the event. Links to each club can be found in the venue information on this page.

Race entries will usually close 3-5 days before the event, but this varies between clubs so it's always best to enter as early as possible to make sure you don't miss out.

We'd love you to take part in the entire day, after a morning of coaching we're sure you'll feel comfortable joining in the racing but you can come off the water at lunchtime if you'd rather sit the races out!

A responsible adult over the age of 18 will need to stay on site at all times while you are taking part in the activities and racing. Contact details of your parent or guardian are required on the registration forms for each event.

All your usual sailing kit! Bring extra layers as wind chill can bring down the temperature on the water and remember that water temperature is usually deceptively cooler than the air temperature in the UK, especially in our reservoirs.

Apply a good sunscreen before heading out to sail and make sure you have UV-protective layers and accessories to protect your skin and eyes.

Host sailing clubs will have plenty of food and refreshments on offer, but make sure you have enough water and some snacks on board to keep you hydrated and energised throughout the day.
