Our Merlin Rocket jibs are built from Contender RSQ 4.55 Dacron, a premium woven cloth developed specifically for high-performance dinghy applications. RSQ Dacron combines excellent shape retention with a soft, responsive feel, giving a balanced and forgiving sail that’s easy to trim across a wide range of conditions.
The 4.55 weight provides an ideal blend of durability and low stretch, ensuring the sail maintains its designed entry and twist characteristics even under high sheet loads. The smooth finish of the RSQ cloth promotes clean airflow over the sail surface, contributing to a powerful yet easily controlled driving force.
Each sail is cut for efficient slot control and a balanced helm feel, pairing perfectly with our Merlin Rocket mainsail designs. Reinforced patching and precision finishing using quality Rugerson eyelets ensure reliability and longevity, whether you’re racing at club level or pushing for championship performance.
Designed to complement our mainsail shape, the luff curve has been carefully tweaked to give improved pointing ability while still allowing the sail to power up through chop. The result is a jib that works in harmony with the main, delivering both control and drive in a wide range of conditions.
Jibs can come as either wire luff, stuff luff or a zip luff.
When ordering, please specify the area on your certificate and whether your jib is tacked in front of or behind the spinnaker chute, this can be added in the special instructions box during the checkout process.
