Boat Repair FAQs
Yes. Our Northampton workshop is insurance approved, so we can work directly with your insurer on claims. We provide detailed quotations, photographic documentation and direct communication with loss adjusters. If you've had an accident or suffered damage, contact us with details and photos – we'll guide you through the claims process and handle the paperwork.
We repair everything from minor scratches and gelcoat chips through to major structural damage. This includes hull cracks and holes, GRP delamination, transom damage, gunwale repairs, deck repairs, centreboard case work, buoyancy tank issues, and collision damage. We work on GRP, wood and composite construction across all dinghy classes, keelboats and small yachts.
Yes. Our Sail Loft handles repairs to mainsails, jibs, genoas and spinnakers – from small tears and batten pocket repairs through to panel replacement and recuts. We also repair boat covers, replacing zips, restitching seams and patching damaged areas. For significant sail damage, we'll advise honestly whether repair or replacement makes more sense.
Contact us with details of the damage – photos are particularly helpful. For minor work, we can often quote from images alone. For more complex repairs, we offer a free boat check at our Northampton workshop where our technicians can assess the damage in person and provide a detailed quotation. We'll explain exactly what's needed and give you a realistic timeframe.
Yes. We can arrange collection and delivery across the UK. Transport costs depend on distance and boat size – we'll include this in your quotation. Many customers bring boats themselves, but if your boat is damaged or you can't tow, collection is straightforward to arrange.
Yes. Beyond repairs, we offer complete refurbishment – hull respray, deck refinishing, fitting replacement, rigging renewal and full renovation of older or neglected boats. We restore everything from club training boats needing a refresh to classic dinghies requiring sympathetic restoration. Contact us to discuss your project.
Timescales depend on the work required and current workshop capacity. Minor gelcoat repairs might take a few days; major structural work or full refurbishment can take several weeks. We'll give you a realistic estimate when quoting and keep you updated throughout. Pre-season is our busiest period, so booking early helps if you have a deadline.
