P&B Merlin Rocket Maxx Mainsail

This sail design is the culmination of over two years of focused development and on-the-water testing, working closely with leading Merlin Rocket sailors to refine every detail.

The outcome is a sail which combines the latest materials and build techniques with the proven shapes and balance that define championship-winning performance.

Each sail is bonded using our Ultra-Bond© hot seam technology, which eliminates the seam creep found in stitched laminates. This produces a stronger, more durable sail that holds its designed shape for longer – giving you consistent power and reliable handling throughout its life.

Construction:

Our Merlin Rocket mainsails are constructed from Contender’s MAXX 06 laminate, a cloth specifically designed for cross-cut sail layouts. The MAXX Racing range has proven itself at Olympic, international and national level, combining precision engineering with long-lasting performance.

The laminate features additional fibres running at 90°, 82°, and 70°, giving the sail exceptional leech stability while remaining forgiving and responsive towards the luff. This balance allows the sail to maintain a smooth, efficient shape through changing conditions, providing a consistent and balanced feel across the wind range.

The result is a fast, easy-to-trim mainsail that rewards precise tuning and delivers dependable speed in all conditions.
