Pinnell & Bax have a long and successful history in the Flying Fifteen class, with both Alan Bax and Ian Pinnell actively sailing and developing sails within the fleet. With multiple World, European, and National Championship victories, our designs are proven fast and trusted by top sailors worldwide.
Our latest jib is built from Contender RSQ 4.55 Fibrecon Competition Polycote, selected for its exceptional stability-to-weight ratio and consistent performance. The new design features a deck-sweeping profile to reduce drag, with optimised luff and foot lengths to maximise aerodynamic efficiency. The shorter foot length makes the sail easier to trim and lighter to sheet in than the traditional genoa, while retaining the power, balance, and control required for championship-level racing.
Available Cuts:
Medium: Suitable for crews around 22 - 26 stone
Full: With increased depth in the upper sections, this version excels in choppy conditions and suits crews 26 stone and above
Luff Options:
Wired Luff
Features a permanently fitted luff wire
The sail is attached at the head and tack to the wire to provide tension (no tack cleat)
Simple, durable, and ideal for those who prefer a fixed setup
Stuff Luff
Incorporates a pocket luff, allowing a standard wire to be used across multiple sails
Supplied without a wire (a low-stretch Dyform wire can be purchased separately if required)
Includes a tack cleat for easy luff tension adjustment
The removable wire makes the sail easier to roll and stow.
Due to the increased luff length compared to the genoa, you will need to use:
A shorter jib halyard, and a low-stretch strop (if you wish to continue using your existing genoa setup)
