Junior sailors take their turn in the spot light
We start today with the wonderfully named Little Britches showing the way, claiming the title of Uk Mirror national champion. Congratulations go to Emma Grayson and Gemma Francis Burnett with four race wins out of nine races sailed they showed great speed after a slightly slow start to the week. This P&B race team pairing were pursued by David and Ed Coady again using a full set of P&B sails claiming the second overall. So a successful week in the Uk Mirror championships hopefully leading onto a successful Europeans…
Latest reports are that Rachel and Gemma are leading the way in the European championships as well. For a round up and the current results please follow this link.
Continuing with the junior classes the P&B are proud to sponsoring Vita Heathcote a year after stepping up from the junior fleet and at the age of 13 Vita became the new senior Uk optimist champion!
Vita and fellow Zhik/P&B team member Milly Boyle then followed this up by completing a double at the Optimist Irish nationals claiming first and second overall in a nail biting finish between the two sailors.
Moving back across the Irish sea we stop at Penzance where currently the Lark nationals are taking place alongside some superb camera work by Lee Whitehead, click on the link for more superb photos… http://www.photolounge.co.uk/ ) akin to this superb shot of Steve and Ally (almost ) Hall. The overall lead however is currently being held by P&B sailors Charlie Roome and Ed Stephens with only two days left.
Staying on the west coast but moving countries we arrive at the ever green Fireball fleet sailing out of Tenby sailing club, currently having a rest day the Fireballs is as ever hotly contested and with three of the top five teams sporting a full P&B inventory (alongside a selection of differing masts) it’s all to play for leading into the last couple of days.
On a more personal level I spent last week having a thoroughly enjoyable time with top crew Penny Jeffcoate at the Scorpion Uk championships somehow sneaking into the top 5 overall whilst gradually remembering how to sail faster and also realising that winning isn’t everything! So thanks to a friendly class for a good week off the water and Penny for stepping in. Congratulations to Andy Mckee and Chris Massey who claimed another podium spot and are well on their way to become overall traveler series champions
Following on from this years championships we (P&B) shall shortly be developing and testing a new sail alongside the first P&B built Scorpion! Any questions on either of these please feel free to call 01604 592808 or e-mail:- oli@pinbax.com
