19 is the number…

As the ups and downs of the championship season draws to a close only a few events are outstanding and 19 is the number for P&B as it stands.

19 national, european and world championships titles that have been won this season using P&B sails with the last couple of weeks seeing some significant additions to the figure as we push ever closer to 20. .

These aforementioned significant additions come in the form of world championship success in the high powered and monster class of the 505 and were backed up with European championship success a couple of days earlier in the Mirror class and further Uk championship success in the N12.

We have written and twittered in real time with regards the 505 worlds in what was undoubtedly a successful week for team P&B. Taking not only the overall win and World championship title but also 4th and 6th with over 160 teams taking part. Should anyone have missed this over the past couple of weeks, a full report can be read by clicking here…

The form for P&B in the Mirror dinghy has been nothing short of remarkable over the past 18 month. With the current world champions, using the full P&B set of sails, currently residing in South Africa it was left to the UK and Irish sailors to take up the mantle. This they have done superbly from the juniors through to the seniors the charge has been headed by the redoubtable duo of Rachel Grayson and Gemma francis Burnett

After their success at the Mirror UK nationals they completed a memorable double with overall title success at the Mirror European championships. Congratulations to Rachel and Gemma on a great year. P&B sails currently hold the clean sweep with the Junior national titles, Senior Uk title success 1st and 2nd in the recent Europeans and are the current world champions.

Finally we end this weeks round up with a class that is historically one of the strongest for P&B sails. This year has been no exception with a clean the season starting off with a superb overall win at the Bloody Mary for P&B (and at the moment taking all the podium positions in the year long traveler series) the success continued with not only first ,second and third overall in the prestigious Burton cup race but also a clean sweep of the podium for the national championships headed up by Tom Stewart and Andrea Ralph with Tom claiming his seventh N12 UK title (which I believe puts him on exactly the same number of Wimbledon mens singles titles that Roger Federer has claimed…)

That’s about all for this week, we will finally wrap up the championship season next week and also highlight some of the other work and development that has been taking place. Personally i’m off to Weymouth this weekend where frankly the weather looks a little on the light side so heres hoping there is enough something for a decent sea breeze!
